I am Hecate, Queen of all witches, sorceress, seductress, psychic, crone, hag. I ride through the night sky, bathing the landscape in supernatural light. Hecate is associated with the dark side of the moon; but this is the true moon. The moon has no light of it's own, only reflected light from the sun. Like the moon, Hecate is dark. She symbolizes the dark within us, the part of our psyche we refuce to acknowledge. We ignore the wisdom, the strength, and the truth of Hecate, because our fear of the darkness is so strong.
In Western society we value beauty, youth, and money above all else. We hide our elderly, our sick, and our poor so we can pretend to be immune to such human conditions, but Hecate reminds us of the truth.
